In the early 90s I became involved with a couple local charities and NGOs specializing in foreign aid work.
Through these organizations, I've had several diverse and challenging opportunities, including; camera operator and technical support, (documentary film crew - infectious disease (malaria) research) filming and editing PSAs, (non-linear video editing - Media 100 and Avid XPress) newsletter publishing/print and layout, organizing fundraising events, and of course, web and graphic design.
Relevant volunteer projects also include the Toronto Humane Society, where I bottle-fed kittens for a few hours a week; and CNH (Central Neighbourhood House) a community center in Regent Park, where I taught basic computer skills to underpriviledged children and women returning to the workforce; as well as helping to set up phone banks for the homeless in search of employment.
